New Zealand Ministry of Health (Manatu Hauora)

Overview

Join the third and final Counties Manukau DHB conference on Sustainable Health Services for New Zealand over the next 20 years.  The first conference looked at a future workforce, the second at funding health services.  This time the conference is co-hosted with the Ministry of Health and focuses on innovation, quality improvement and new models of care for the future.

You are invited to attend a two-day think-tank event that mixes learning with the opportunity for you to contribute your local insights and experience. Delegate numbers are limited.

The Conference will be opened by the Minister of Health, Hon David Cunliffe.  Keynote speakers include Professor Martin McKee from the London School of Tropical Medicine & Hygiene, talking about his work comparing health systems throughout the world.

Dr Scott Young will present via a video link from the US, on the use of technology to support people with long-term conditions.  The Director General of Health, Stephen McKernan will be sharing his views on long term planning for the New Zealand Health Sector.

Throughout the two days, there will be opportunities to question and challenge speakers.  In addition we are offering 12 interactive 'think-tank' workshops on Day Two in which you will be invited to contribute your thoughts about future development of health services.

Topics include:

  • Regional Collaboration

  • Patient Power

  • Quality Improvement

  • What happens when a community wants to lead and own its health?

Delegates are able to attend two workshops of choice on a first-come, first-served booking system with a ceiling on numbers for each think-tank.  So register now and make sure you are in the workshops you want.

What are the major factors determining where our health system is heading?  How can we ensure it is fit for purpose in 20 years time? Share your expertise and join the dialogue that will help shape New Zealand’s health future.
