The 3rd annual Nursing Outpatient
Forum was hosted by staff at Manukau SuperClinic on
5th and 6th November 2010.
Delegates from Outpatient departments
from the North and South Island met to attend the
conference where the theme was ‘delivering quality and
serving our communities’.
The Friday sessions were held at
Waipuna Lodge with our room over looking the estuary,
what a great view.
The Saturday sessions were held at
Manukau SuperClinic, a fantastic opportunity to show off
our world class premises, including our new conference
centre.
The key note speaker was Geoff
Simmons who talked passionately about health care
provision and recommendations made in a 'prescription
for change', co written with Gareth Morgan. This was
followed by Geraint Martin who was able to put the 'flip
side' of this, also very passionately - making for a
very interesting and thought provoking start to our
conference.
Delegate feedback agreed that the
speakers were interesting and inspiring. All the
speakers had particular emphasis on innovative ways to
meet the demands for services. These demands continue to
increase and place significant demands on Outpatient
departments and the delivery of care.
This was a great forum for
inspiration and allowed for networking, old friends were
greeted and new acquaintances were forged. A significant
amount of information was swapped during these two days,
which can only be to the benefit of all.
Thank you to the committee members
for a successful conference and to the speakers for
inspiration.
