Adolescent Dental Service
Looking after teeth
is just as important during the teenage years; dental care is free
from year 9 up to 17 years of age (until 18th birthday).
Adolescents need to
enrol with a dentist who holds a contract with the Counties Manukau
District Health Board to treat adolescents under the government
funded dental benefits.
For more
information on adolescent dental care from year 9 or 3rd
form, and how to enrol, phone
0800 TALK TEETH (0800 825 583) and press 2, or visit
www.letstalkteeth.co.nz
You can also enrol
on-line
or

the Enrolment Form.

Contracted Dentists (Providers of
Free Dental Care for Adolescents)
If a dentist has a
contract with the District Health Board then the basic dental
care for adolescents will be provided free. The District Health
Board will pay for the treatment. This free treatment does not
include orthodontic treatment or accidents normally covered under
ACC. Please note that not all
white fillings are free. If you request white fillings, or if
the dentist will only provide white fillings, please check with the
dentist first to see if there is a fee for this service.
If your chosen
dentist does not have a contract with the District Health Board,
then services will not be free.
This contract has a
focus on prevention and allows the dentist to provide all necessary
treatments. This service is available to all adolescents up until
the 18th birthday whether they are at school, tertiary study or working.
